Question
What is 3D Secure (3DS)? Why do I need to confirm some ZEN Card payments on my phone?
Answer
All ZEN Cards support 3D Secure — an extra layer of security for online card payments. It helps confirm that the person making the purchase is the rightful cardholder, by requesting authentication through your ZEN.COM app. When using your ZEN Card for online shopping, you may sometimes receive a notification from us to confirm the payment. Click the notification, check the details of the transaction, and decide if you want to complete it.
Please note, you need to allow the ZEN.COM app to send you notifications to receive them. Click here to learn more about allowing notifications.
Additional tips:
- 3D Secure is automatically activated when you activate your ZEN Card. No additional steps are required.
- If you did not receive the notification, but on the merchant's page you see that a confirmation is required, log in to your ZEN.COM app. If there are any pending confirmations, we will show them automatically.
- If you are not sure about the transaction, do not confirm it — once confirmed, the transaction cannot be canceled or stopped by ZEN — only the merchant can cancel it.
- If you choose to decline a transaction from the 3D Secure notification, we will automatically block your ZEN Card to avoid further unrecognized payments. Click here to learn how to unlock the card in the ZEN.COM app.
- When confirming a subscription payment, remember that only the first transaction requires confirmation. Further payments for that subscription will be billed automatically by the merchant. We do not yet support blocking subscription payments.
- Not all online ZEN Card payments require 3D Secure confirmation.
