What Personal Liability Cover for Travel covers

The cover can help if you become legally responsible for accidentally causing:

  • injury to another person
  • damage to another person's property
  • other financial loss resulting from covered injury or property damage

Eligible legal, defence, expert, and court costs may also be covered.

Any compensation or related costs paid for the same incident reduce the remaining amount available under the cover.

For claims brought before courts in the United States or Canada, including their territories and possessions, a separate maximum limit applies as specified in the Table of Benefits and Limits.

What Personal Liability Cover for Travel does not cover

The cover does not apply to:

  • activities that require separate compulsory liability insurance
  • injury or damage involving someone who is not considered a third party under the insurance conditions
  • damage caused while carrying out your professional activities
  • non-material damage that does not result from covered personal injury or property damage
  • damage caused directly or indirectly through owning, possessing, or using motor vehicles or machinery, caravans, aircraft including drones, spacecraft, or vessels used on seas, rivers, or lakes
  • damage connected with loading or unloading these vehicles, aircraft, or vessels

Damage to premises you temporarily occupy during your trip may still be covered.

This is third-party liability cover. It is intended for situations where you are legally responsible for injury or damage caused to someone else.

It does not cover your own injuries or belongings.
