Why can't I add a card to Google Pay?

Answer

If you are unable to add a card to Google Pay, check the following tips:

  1. Google Pay works on devices with Android version 9.0 or newer. Check what operating system your phone is using.
  2. Make sure that Google Pay supports payments in the country and region you are currently in (external link). Google Pay may not be available in all countries.
  3. Ensure that your device:
    • Has NFC capability and it is turned on.
    • Supports host card emulation (HCE) technology.
    • Has a screen lock set up.
    • Has Play Protect certification (external link).
    • Does not have root access.
    • Does not have a custom ROM.
    • Does not have an unlocked bootloader.
  4. Make sure that the name and address in your Google payment profile settings (external link) match the information registered with ZEN.
  5. Restart your device, and then try to add the card to Google Pay again.
