Send your trust deed or trust instrument, which is the document that created the trust and sets out its terms.
If it names the current trustees, the settlor, and the beneficiaries, that's all we need.
If trusts must be registered in your country, also send the certificate of registration.
What information does your trust deed need to show?
Your trust deed or trust instrument should show:
- the full name of the settlor, the person who created the trust
- the full name of every current trustee
- who the beneficiaries are, either named individually or described as a class
- the governing jurisdiction of the trust
If available, it also helps if the deed shows:
- the trust name
- establishment date
- principal place of administration
- tax ID
You can still continue with your application if these additional details aren't shown. Not every trust has a name or registration number, and that's fine.
What if the trust has changed since it was established?
If the original deed no longer reflects the current trustees, beneficiaries, or terms of the trust, add the document that brings the information up to date. You don't need to send all of these.
- Deed of variation or amendment: a document changing the original terms. Send it together with the original deed so we can see the current terms in full.
- Deed of appointment of trustees: use this if the trustees have changed since the trust was established.
- Resolution of the appointing body: use this if your trust appoints trustees by resolution rather than by deed.
- Separate beneficiary schedule: a beneficiary list kept separately from the deed.
- Deed of addition or exclusion of beneficiaries: use this if beneficiaries have been added or removed.
- Court registration decision or decree: for arrangements established or recognised by a court.
- Ultimate beneficial owner (UBO) declaration or beneficial ownership register extract: identifies the people who ultimately control the trust. This can support your other documents, but it can't replace them.
What if a trusteeship or interest is held through a nominee?
Also send the nominee agreement. This should show who holds the role or interest and who they hold it for.
Does my country change which documents I need?
No. The same document requirements apply wherever your trust is established.
What should you check before uploading your documents?
- Send the most recent version, together with the original deed if there have been any amendments.
- Include every page, even if a page only contains a stamp or signature.
- Make sure the names of the settlor, trustees, and beneficiaries are clearly readable.
- You can upload a clear scan, photo, or downloaded PDF. Make sure all text is legible.
- Documents in your local language are accepted. You don't need to translate them.
What happens after you upload your documents?
Your documents are sent for review after you upload them.
If we need another document or more information, we'll let you know.
