Baggage Delay can help with the cost of essential items if an airline or another carrier delays your checked baggage on your outward journey for at least 12 hours.
Baggage Delay is part of Travel Delay Cover, provided by Chubb, a global insurance company, and is available with selected ZEN.COM subscription plans for residents of Poland, Czechia, Hungary, Romania, and Lithuania.
What costs can Baggage Delay cover?
You may be able to claim eligible costs for essential items you need while waiting for your baggage, such as:
- clothing
- toiletries
- medicines
- mobility aids
The cover applies to essential purchases only. No excess applies to a Baggage Delay claim.
When does Baggage Delay apply?
Your baggage delay may qualify when:
- your checked baggage is delayed on your outward journey for at least 12 hours
- the baggage was in the custody of an airline or another carrier
- you report the delay to the airline or carrier in writing within 24 hours of discovering it
- you keep the original written report from the airline or carrier
- you keep receipts for the essential items you buy while waiting
If you later claim for the permanent loss of the same baggage, any amount already reimbursed for emergency purchases will be deducted from the final settlement.
When does Baggage Delay not apply?
Baggage Delay does not cover every baggage disruption.
Examples include:
- costs above the applicable cover limit
- non-essential purchases
- baggage delayed because customs or another authority detained, seized, or confiscated it
- travel or accommodation costs above the standard originally planned for your trip
Full conditions, limits, and exclusions are available in the Travel and Lifestyle Benefits Terms.
What should I keep if I want to make a claim?
Keep:
- your travel booking and itinerary
- the original written baggage report from the airline or carrier
- written confirmation showing how long your baggage was delayed
- receipts for essential items you bought while waiting
