Send a current registry extract, such as an up-to-date printout or PDF from the official register where your business is listed.
In most countries, this is the only document we need.
Because you operate the business as a sole trader, you don't need to provide separate documents showing who runs or owns it. The document just needs to identify you.
What information does your registry extract need to show?
Your registry extract should show:
- your full name
- your business name, if it's different from your own name
- your registration number and registered address
- that the registration is still active
If available, it also helps if the extract shows:
- registration date
- country of registration
- tax ID
You can still continue with your application if these additional details aren't shown.
What if my country doesn't have a sole trader register?
Not every country keeps a register of sole traders.
If there isn't one in your country, you can provide any one of these instead, as long as it names you:
- Business registration certificate: the certificate issued when you registered the business
- Business licence or operating permit: the permit authorising you to carry out your activity
- Tax registration certificate: confirmation from the tax authority that your business is registered for tax
- Official confirmation letter from the registry: a letter or electronic confirmation for countries where the registry doesn't issue formal extracts
Are there extra document requirements in some countries?
In most countries, the registry extract described above is enough. The following countries have different requirements.
Germany
If you're listed in the commercial register, send your registry extract.
If you aren't listed there, send your business registration certificate (Gewerbeanmeldung).
If tax registration is the main official record of your business, send your tax registration certificate instead.
Hong Kong
Send:
- your business registration certificate
- your business licence
Lithuania and Malta
Send:
- your registry extract
- your tax registration certificate
- your business licence
Spain

United Kingdom

Your documents are sent for review after you upload them.
If we need another document or more information, we'll let you know.
