What happens when my ZEN Card is about to expire?

If your ZEN Card is nearing its expiration date, you usually don’t need to do anything. In most cases, the card is renewed automatically, so you can keep paying without interruption.

Your card will be reissued for free if all of the following are true:

  • The card was not restricted or removed from the ZEN.COM app
  • The card was used at least once in the last 6 months before it expires

When a card is renewed, it keeps the same card number but gets a new expiration date and CVC code. Below you’ll find how renewal works for virtual and physical cards.

Renewal of virtual cards

On the 15th day of the month your virtual card expires, you’ll receive:

  • an email, and
  • a notification in the ZEN.COM app

Example: If your virtual card expires in 03/2026, you’ll receive a notification on March 15, 2026.

For the virtual card to be renewed, there must be at least one transaction made with it in the last 6 months before it expires.

If the conditions are met, the renewal happens automatically. Virtual cards are renewed between 5 and 1 days before the expiration date.

Once the card is renewed, you’ll get a confirmation notification in the ZEN.COM app.

Renewal of physical cards

On the 15th day of the month before your physical card expires, you’ll receive an email from ZEN.COM.

Example: If your physical card expires in 03/2026, you’ll receive the email on February 15, 2026.

The physical card is renewed only if it was used at least once in the last 6 months before it expires. The last eligible transaction must be made no later than 6 days before the expiration date.

The new physical card is delivered to the home address saved in your app settings. If you want it sent to a different address, make sure to update your home address in the ZEN.COM app before the renewal.
