You can earn Shards as you use your ZEN account, then turn them into Stones in the Reward Zone. Here’s how to earn Shards, which cards and payments qualify, and where to check your balance.
Which ZEN cards earn Shards
You can earn Shards when you pay with:
- a ZEN card with Reward Zone enabled
- a ZEN PRO card
If you have an active Good subscription plan and use a ZEN card without Reward Zone, you can earn up to 100 Shards in total. This limit does not renew.
With a ZEN card with Reward Zone enabled or a ZEN PRO card, there is no limit on how many Shards you can earn. To learn more about the program, see: What is the Reward Zone moneyback program?
How to earn Shards
You can collect Shards in several ways:
-
Spend with a card that earns Shards
You earn 1 Shard for every 3.30 EUR you spend. This can come from one payment or several smaller payments that add up to that amount. Shards usually appear right after the payment, but sometimes it may take a little longer. -
Win extra Shards during payments
Every payment with a card that earns Shards gives you a chance to win additional Shards or even full Stones. The higher the amount of a single purchase, the higher your chance. -
Complete ZEN Quests
Some Quests reward you with Shards when you finish all tasks. -
Share Stones with your ZEN Buddies
When you share Stones, you can earn Synergy Shards. -
Complete selected activities in the ZEN.COM app
Some activities, such as completing a transfer verification, may reward you with Shards.
Payments in other currencies and refunds
If you pay in a currency other than EUR, the payment amount is converted to EUR using the ZEN.COM exchange rate at the moment of the transaction. This converted amount is used to calculate how many Shards you earn.
If you later receive a refund for a payment that earned Shards, those Shards are automatically reversed. To learn more, read our guide about reversing Shards.
Which transactions don't earn Shards
To keep the Reward Zone fair, some transaction types don't qualify for Shards. You won't earn them for:
- payments made through intermediaries (for example, Curve or PayPal),
- gambling or lottery payments,
- loan repayments, including Buy Now, Pay Later services,
- quasi-cash transactions (like topping up other financial services),
- ATM cash withdrawals.
How to check your Shards balance
- Log in to your ZEN.COM app and select “Zenefits” from the bottom menu.
Business account: select “More ZEN” instead. - Tap “Reward Zone”.
- In the middle of the screen, you’ll see your available Shards.
